More than fifty years ago, the Democrat party gradually abandoned the last of its support for segregation, Jim Crow, the KKK, and other racist institutions like poll taxes and literacy tests. The Democrats turned instead to racialism.
In brief, as those two terms are used herein —
A racist is a person who believes there are significant differences in abilities or character among people of different races, attributes those differences directly to race, and almost always believes that his/her own race is somehow superior to other races.
A racialist, on the other hand, believes that racism is itself the primary driving force of events, behaviors, and outcomes in all societies. Anywhere there is a perceived injustice or inequality of outcomes, a racialist looks first to racism as the underlying cause.
Not all racialists are the same. Ideological racialists simply carry the belief with them, usually feeling smugly woke about how racism is the most important force in society. They often acquire their ‘wokeness’ about race, gender, and class at an absurdly expensive university that has systematically driven out all contrary thoughts and teachings.
And then there are the professional racialists who exploit racialism to win power and wealth. To maintain that power and wealth in what is arguably the world’s least racist country, professional racialists must necessarily re-create and even re-invent racism wherever they can. Examples show up in the news now almost every week with long-used names and traditions abruptly labeled racist to garner media attention and political power. To professional racialists, racism is both their sword and shield.
Martin Luther King, Jr. famously preached that people should be judged by their character, not their skin color or race. Therefore most of us have presumed that race-blindness is a desirable trait and a worthy goal. But to a professional racialist, race-blindness is bad for business, so they declare that race-blindness is itself racist.
So where is one to turn when a racialist calls out “racism!” as their ever-ready sword and shield in virtually every interaction? Perhaps a person of good faith should call out “racialism!” in response.
Meanwhile, many politicians, virtually all of them Democrats, rely on racialism as a way to generate division and resentment among Americans, expand government size, power, and cost, and pander to a growing dependency class that they have convinced to keep voting Democrat no matter how poor the results have been.
But times are a-changing!
For both political and professional racialists, black Americans who think for themselves are a real annoyance. And it’s not just a current-day phenomenon. See for example this link for a 2014 viral video of black activists in Chicago who condemn racialist opportunism among Democrat machine politicians, whether white or black. See also the beautifully written and brilliantly titled Uncle Sam’s Plantation, by Star Parker, published in 2010. Finally, see and hear the works of Candace Owens, founder of the BLexit (Black and Latino Exit) movement and one of finest polemicists in America on the subject of the Democrats’ abuse of racialism.
Racialism has served Leftist Democrats and a few professional racialists well over the past 50 years, but as that vile philosophy has metastasized, rival Leftist factions have started turning it on each other. Seemingly every week, another past “sin” has come to light on one Leftist after another, followed by confessions and apologies that are reminiscent of the era of Joseph Stalin.
More ominously, racialism has become both a sword and shield for the self-professed ‘trained Marxist’ wing of the Black Lives Matter movement and the rival Antifa advocates who are anything but the “anti-fascists” they profess to be. Both are heavily into violence, and both are eerily similar to the early versions of Hitler’s Brown Shirts. So are the several new Leftist initiatives to defund/dismantle our police forces.
So …
Can the now-dominant Left wing of the Democrat party actually win elections with racialism, the Marxist version of Black Lives Matter, and the fascistic Antifa? Like the monster crated by Dr. Frankenstein, those cancerous evils have virtually destroyed the Democrat party of which I was once a member (JFK era). The question is whether they can bring down the entire American republic along with their now-poisoned party.
Conservatives, libertarians, classic liberals, and sane Americans still have our votes as our most potent non-violent weapons against these evils, and the 2020 elections will be telling — provided anti-American forces don’t manage to sabotage the voting(!).
Godspeed to us all.

Leo Terrell has certainly turned the page and shucked off his former POV. Says he about Al Sharpton, for example, “Are you going to preach at the funeral of the 3-yr old black girl killed in Chicago? Or does it depend on how much you get paid and how mant TV cameras are present?
He’s “come a long way, baby”
